Dated location test en
This type is a test schema for showing the succession of geopolitical (and other) dated locations. It addresses these types of succession: Simple change in status. E.g., the Territory of Hawaii became the state of Hawaii. Merger of two or more locations to create a new location. E.g., three British colonies merged to form Canada. Break-up of one location into several smaller ones (such that the originating location no longer exists). E.g. the break-up of the USSR. A location splitting off a piece of itself into a new location (but with the originating location continuing to exist). E.g. the Northwest Territories splitting off its eastern portion to form Nunavut. A location joining another location (but which, together, are not forming a new location). E.g., the Republic of Hawaii ceased to be an independent state and joined the USA. These often work in combination. E.g., when the Republic of Hawaii became a US territory, it both joined the United States and became the Territory of Hawaii. Or when the British colonies New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and the Province of Canada merged to become Canada, the Province of Canada also split up into Ontario and Quebec, so three colonies became four provinces.
