A mapping from one set to another, so that there is a unique value for each input. More formally, a function consists of an ordered triple of sets, which may be written as (X, Y, F). X is the domain of the function, Y is the codomain, and F is a set of ordered pairs where the first element of each ordered pair is from X and the second element is from Y.
