hey, can you recip/ advise me on this?

Excellent idea! I can envision some cool gallery views. However, when I tried to create a reciprocal link, Freebase told me I didn't have the required permissions. It doesn't seem like I should need permissions on the newsevents base in order to create a reciprocal link. Maybe someone from Metaweb can comment on this?

Sorry. That should say "should not"!
-
that doesnt make sense to me either.
but hey, i actually think this type should be split before it recieves this property. have you seen digital camera?
digital and film cameras should both cotype a common 'camera' type. should it cotype this type? if so,we should make a 'film camera' type for the things like 'type of film used' or whatever.
also, i think this type should cotype /business/consumer_product
cheers:) great work.

It does seem weird that you can't reciprocate an incoming property from a type you don't administer, since we don't require you to have special permissions in order to create a property that expects a type you don't administer. I'll raise a bug.

Hi bgoldenberg,
I'd like to suggest adding more properties to your Camera Lens type.
At least Focal Length (range) and Weight come to my mind.
Perhaps the Camera Lens type could also include other types, such as "Consumer Product", with more common, general properties such as width, height and price.
(I wonder if it's possible to make the price a link to a price comparison site...)-
Thanks for the input, mrmasterbastard. I see you've added lots of lenses. Great work! Let me know if I can give you any guidance. Focal length definitely needs to be added to the schema. I've been wrestling with the proper way to do this, since we don't currently have the built in capability for measurement ranges. I've added a stop gap solution for this. I also added some of the other properties you suggested.
Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

I think I'll need an explanation for your solution for Focal Length Range. What exactly am I supposed to put in the three fields?
-
Thanks for pointing that out. I forgot to make the Focal Length Range a Compound Value Type (CVT) which caused it to display the name of the field as well. There should now be two fields, which should be pretty self-explanatory. For now, if it is a prime lens (fixed focal length), just enter it as the minimum. I'll try to think of a better solution than that. Have fun!
