It would be helpful to describe here the typical process for requesting to be granted greater priviledges. If someone wishes to implement changes that they do not have permissions for, how should they:

Request changes from existing admins. Request to be made an expert/admin to allow them to implement the changes.

I think the primary way this is done is via discussion topics, either on the home page of base/domain itself or on the user page of one or more of the administrators. If that produces no response or it appears that the domain is abandoned, an appeal to the Metaweb staff can probably get a new set of administrators anointed.

Does that answer your question or were you asking that a description like this get added to the doc itself? I think some (all?) of the help/documentation is moving to a wiki, so anyone would be able to edit it.

Grrr. I got two errors before I was able to save my reply successfully, but apparently it was writing them all the while despite giving the 500 Internal Server Errors.

What are permissions or other differences between members, administrators, and experts of a base?

I want to create a mechanism to have selected users "verify/bless" mediator links. Then I want to construct queries to return only links verified by a user in the group.

I've got a list of sixty of the highest pubs in England which I could add to your 'http://www.freebase.com/view/user/freebass/default_domain/views/the_highest_pubs_in_england'
            page.

            But

1 -have I got to match every pub with a something on your list (or create a new topic)

2 -the import just seems to want a name and an elevation.  When does the location(North/West grid reference) and extra information (county/address/description etc)get put in?   it's going to be too laborious if i can't just send a CSV file.

If somebody else would like the list to enter, please let me know.

I'm not familiar with the terms you use. Is there a glossary somewhere with some examples and demonstration?

hi frisasu, that view is hilarious.

ya, import tools are way limited. but click 'add more' and 'Go to the import tool »'  will let you import a tsv. maybe 5-10~minutes work. the other data has to be hand-entered because they arent disambig properties, which is a drag.

              cheers~

I cannot see how to do something which seems simple. I added a view to a base. It is shown as a list of images. I want a list of strings, like a list of names. I can change the appearance of an entire Base, but how do I change the display style of just one view?

I would expect, somewhere, to see a list of view display types that I can choose from. This list would include "image list", "bulleted list", and others. How do I get to the place I can edit this?

              Hi Raykiddy,

right now there are only two display options for views: gallery and list. Gallery displays the images associated with the topics, and list shows them, as you might guess, as a list. You can choose which option you want by clicking Edit View, then select Gallery or List next to View As.

With either view you also have the option of what properties you want to display. After clicking Edit view you can remove properties from a view by clicking the X next to the property name, or you can add properties by selecting them from the More Info column. For example, if you look at my Guns 'N' Roses base (http://gunsnroses.freebase.com) you'll see that for the Members of view I chose to display only the band member names and their pictures.

The help topics Using the Filter View and Creating Views for a Base both have information about how to edit views, though Using the Filter View goes into more detail.

I have looked for the 'View As' selector. I am sorry, but I am not seeing it. I took some screen shots of the windows as I see them. Can you tell me on which pic and where I will see this? Thanks.

Ah right, yeah, you can't change it there.  Only when you click through to the view page can you choose whether to go with a list or a gallery.
