  1.

    API please

    1. Hi

Can anyone let me know what is the API I have to use for getting Autocomplete functionality in my .net application?

      Thanks

      1. Sreedhar,

The autocomplete (freebase-suggest) is currently offered as a jQuery plugin for web applications.  The API and download can be found on Google Code here .  There are also links to the API and documentation, as well as live demos.

    Idea

    1. When you don't have a clue what type of thing should go into an autocomplete box, it would be nice to be able to see the first few things to get an idea. I instinctively hit down arrow in an empty box hoping this would happen. But it didn't and I remain confused how to get started when I don't know the format of some structured data.
      1. I like the idea of down arrow showing some results. I'm not sure what topics we should display. I guess we can start by using the same order we use for the type page. Eventually the list would show the top ranked topics for the type.
      2. yes! i agree that giving hints or examples to choose from in autocomplete would be very helpful... especially in the filtering ui, where you're not adding something you know, but are just sort of browsing around. i'm holding on tightly to the hope that one day we'll be able to do this, and something similar is part of the final design of the filtering.

jra -- in what cases did you want this? was it when you were adding to a property, or when you were looking for something?
      3. I think I noticed it first in filtering, then I noticed it again just now while playing with the schema editor in my personal domain, because I don't know what types (text, integer, etc) are called.
