Charity sponsors

  1.
    1. How do you want to handle celebrities who support a charity?  For example, Mickey Rourke endorses PETA.  That's largely the same as him endorsing a product, save that he's likely not paid to endorse PETA.  Thanks, MO

      1. I wrestled with the notion of a sponsorship vs. an endorsement (there is an endorsement base also).  The delineation I made was that an endorsement usually involves a contract with money exchanged for the endorsement, where as sponsorship doesn't necessarily.  Maybe another indicator of an endorsement is that it usually involves a product.  However, I never found any good information on what constitutes one vs the other.

I would be happy to collaborate with you in defining what an endorsement is versus a sponsorship.

      2. I think your distinction makes sense. I did in fact check for endorsements schema, and found the political endorsements one instead.

Given that your delineation is pretty clear and easy to understand, could you please spend a minute or two to fill out the description for both of those bases' homepages?  And point people to the other base in that description.  Hopefully that will help lost souls like me in the future.  :-)

         Thanks,

        MO

      3. Documentation?  I'm definitely to blame for the lack of it, but I promise I'll get to it!

As for your initial question, I don't think that Mickey Rourke's "endorsement" of PETA is represented correctly as an endorsement or a sponsorship.  I think that it would be better modeled as Mickey Rourke being a member of the organization PETA with his role as "spokesperson" or something along that line.

      4. Thanks for following up offline re: Mickey Rourke.

I know there's a lot on your plate before your pat leave - esp w Jeff on his own pat leave.  So please attend to the biggest issues first; if this doc slips til later, that's fine.

        Thanks,
        MO
