Somalia on Ushahidi base

Hello Chrisb, How are you? I was looking at the Somalia map you made on the Ushahidi base, Nice work! I am interested in using a Ushahidi like platform to present data from Somalia. I am starting an organization that has contact with reporters in Somalia and wants them to report on a great nr of things, from refugee camps to roadblocks and from destroyed houses to fighting parties.

I wonder if you could help me with some information. Did you make the map on the Ushahidi base, was it difficult? Normally with Ushahidi applications, people are able to contribute trough mobile phones or internet on events as they happen, why is this option not available on your map? What would it take to enable this option? Would it also be possible to put diffrent layers in the map so users can choose what layer they will use for the background? I must say, I am not really technical but do want to apply the Ushahidi technology in profiding the info from Somalia.

Would it be possible to copy the application you made to another website and start adding data and layers. Also if we only want to allow a specific group of people (the somali reporters) to add data?
