Should the type of bridge be used to designate toll bridges? Or should this be captured elsewhere with a another more generic location type? I couldn't find any existing schema for tolls/fees on roads and bridges in my quick and cursory search today.

I would think that the bridge type would be the place to store toll-bridge info (and similarly the road type the place for toll-road info). The other option would be a new "toll-bridge" type, but that probably wouldn't be necessary.

Date formed, end1, end2, and probably orientation should all be made unique.

Still think they should be unique. Are there objections?

While I'm at it, I don't understand the Road End type at all. Is it intended to allow a road to end at another road instead of at a town or other location? This is confusing from a data entry point. I need to go back and check, but I suspect I just co-typed a couple of towns as roads because I put them in the wrong place.

Of course, as always, documentation would be useful.

I agree, these should be unique. The road end type allows a road to end at a road, another location like a town or park, or both (at a road in a particular town). I'll add some property descriptions.

I'd argue that a road IS A location (albeit with a very long and thin boundary shape), and should include the /location/location type.

            Hello,

i think it would be great if you could add a google maps links to a specific loctaion, which will grab its map accordingly.

currently, if I got it right, the Location type have this option, when you write something under Contained by. but in my case (Israeli street names), the map is of the town only. although i have seen other road (in the US) which have a better map view.

few weeks ago, Google added Israeli streets too (with both hebrew and english spellings), so maybe there needs to be some twiking to get it to work).

for example Borokhov street in freebase and its location in google maps (note the different spelling though).

            Thanks,
            Doron.

              Doron,

The mapper will map the streets if the road ends are present and have their geolocations filled out. Unfortunately, the geobot (which will automatically add geolocations to locations with addresses) doesn’t currently handle intersections, but if you have the geolocations, you can fill them out now. We are working on improving geobot’s capabilities, but that’s the way to do it until then.

We have a geobot which runs through Freebase's locations regularly and converts street addresses (eg. 123 Smith Street, Sometown) to geolocations (lat and long).  I believe -- though I'm not 100% sure -- that it uses the Google API to do this, so if Google Maps can find your address, then the geolocation will be set on the topic, and thus you'll get a perfectly pinpointed map on the topic page.

sometimes the streed is named after someone or something, but since the offical street name is different then the offical person or something name (could be a nick, or different spelling), you can't or you don't want to make that person/something also a road.

i have this problem with an israeli street name i created. in here, the offical english spelling is different then what most ppl use, so i cant make the person be also a road, or vice versa.

You could try using the type "namesake", in my names domain, for things that are named after other things.  For the reverse property, use "name source".  I've added these to the topics you mention, for demonstration purposes.

As the majority of Road properties are common to Rail Line type (length, end points etc. ) it would make more sense to have a Transport Route type of which Road and Rail Line are subtypes.

            Any comments?

Considering most roads/streets don't have highway names would it make more sense to have some supertype that contains most of the values and then to make highway something that depends upon it which has the highway number?
