Hi jg,
'AOU 2006 four letter species code' and 'AOU 2006 six letter species code', which will help speed up bird entries. I've only entered one topic so far: http://www.freebase.com/view/guid/9202a8c04000641f8000000006c87ea7
They both fall under the type Classification class name I created (it can always be renamed), which is a catchall type for any classification code.As an administrator of the Biology domain, I'd like to get your input on them and how to maintain codes like these. Do we really want Freebase filling up with abstract codes? Does it matter?

Hi. Codes like this are very valuable, they are foreign keys that help reconcile different databases. Our preference is to import them as namespaces though, like /biology/AOU6 so that they can be used as ids. Im currently loading a bunch of taxo data on sandbox with a /biology/itis namespace for example. Ill contact you by email about the bird data you have.

Hi Frank,
Yes, there has been progress on this and I hope to load the whole thing on sandbox sometime this month. We should have approx 1M species and im working to reconcile them with the ones we already have. The taxo type will link them in a hierarcy. Ill be sure to reply to the post once we have something for you to review... -

I think it'd be useful to breakdown food stats for each food. Like the label on the side of a package.
That way we could ask questions like "What pasta has the lowest sodium?" or "Is this meal ok for a calorie restricted diet?"

There's been some related discussion in the food domain and on some of the topics within the domain (http://www.freebase.com/view/domain?id=/food). Note that Freebaser Thadguidry is particularly interested in ingredients.
I do agree that what you're suggesting would be useful, and I don't think we've seen anyone working on such a type yet. If you dive in and start modeling it--which would be great--I'd suggest posting any questions or thoughts in the food domain itself.

There is a good USDA standard reference database of food ingredients which would be a good place to start in modeling food ingredients.
