  • The 2nd annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from June 12 to June 25, 1952. The FIAPF banned the festival from awarding any official prizes, instead awards were given by audience voting. The ban was lifted in 1956. Golden Bear was awarded to Swedish film Hon dansade en sommar by audience vote, despite featuring a nude scene which caused much sensation at the time. Orson Welles's Othello was banned from the festival due to his alleged anti-German remarks. The festival held a retrospective on the Silent films. Wikipedia
