  • Fort Rixon is a village and farming centre in Matabeleland in the Republic of Zimbabwe, located some 48 miles north-east of Bulawayo. It was founded as a military outpost in 1896 during the rebellion of the Matabele nation against British colonial rule of Rhodesia. Fort Rixon has the largest number of cattle in Zimbabwe. It is famous for Brahman cattle. The people who live there are the very young children and they live with their grandparents. The teenagers and the young adults left for the city. They left the old people and the young children there. They also grow lots of crops such as maize, potatoes, pumpkins, sweet reeds, round-nuts e.t.c. Farming is the most important thing in Fort Rixon and almost every villager is a farmer.
