  • Google Transit is a third-party trip planner built on top of Google Maps. It was originally launched on December 7, 2005 with Portland, Oregon's TriMet. It expanded service on September 27, 2006 (Eugene, Honolulu, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Tampa), November 22, 2006 (Burbank and Orange Count), and March 8, 2007 (Austin). Google Transit runs its own trip planning engine, using data obtained directly from agencies in the Google Transit Feed Specification.
