  • The Honda Fit, also marketed as the Honda Jazz, is a subcompact car manufactured and marketed by Honda since 2001 and now in its third generation. Marketed worldwide and manufactured at ten plants in eight countries, sales has reached almost 5 million by the middle of 2013. The Fit/Jazz shares Honda's global small car platform with several other models including the City, Airwave, Mobilio, Mobilio Spike, Freed and Freed Spike. Initially the car was given the name Honda Fitta; due to this word being an expletive in several Nordic countries the name was changed. The nameplate "Jazz" is used in Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and most parts of Asia, while the name "Fit" is used in Japan, China and the Americas. Manufactured solely in a four-door, front-engine, front-wheel drive one-box or monospace body configuration, the Fit is noted for its interior packaging concept that enables a reconfigurable cargo volume that competes with larger vehicles such as the Nissan Note, Mazda Demio, or Mitsubishi Colt. Honda released hybrid gasoline-electric versions of the Fit in Japan in October 2010 and in Europe in early 2011.
