In 2010-11 the system had a $990 million budget and more than 18,000 employees. With a fleet of more than 1,500 vehicles, it operates one of the 10 largest transportation systems in the nation.
The only public school in Jefferson County not operated by the JCPS is the Anchorage Public School, a K-8 school operated by the Anchorage Independent Schools District in Anchorage, Kentucky.
