  • Joe Kennedy was appointed President and CEO for Omneon Video Networks in June, 2003. He is a seasoned chief executive experienced in management, operations, sales/marketing, and engineering, with a special interest in high-technology emerging markets. Over the past several years, Kennedy has served as founder and CEO of a number of successful technology companies. In the role of President and CEO for Omneon, Kennedy is chiefly responsible for setting company direction as well as managing all day-to-day company operations. Prior to Omneon, Kennedy held CEO appointments at Pluris Networks, a developer of scalable Internet routers, from June 1999 to March 2002. Prior to that Mr. Kennedy was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rapid City Communications, developer of routing switch technologies, from February 1996 until that company was acquired by Bay Networks, Inc., a provider of networking products, in June 1997, after which time he served as President and General Manager of Bay Networks’ switching products division until June 1998. He also held CEO appointments at Hughes LAN Systems (acquired by Whittaker Corporation) and Phoenix Technology (acquired by Bridge Communications). Before founding Rapid City,he had founded Phoenix Technology, a LAN security company, which was sold to Bridge Communications, and was a member of the founding team at Ungermann-Bass. At each of these companies, he has excelled at providing market vision and operational leadership directly impacting revenue growth and profitability. Prior to his CEO positions, Kennedy was vice president of engineering at Ungermann-Bass and director of engineering at Zilog.In addition to Omneon, Mr. Kennedy currently serves on the boards of directors of Adaptec, Inc., a provider of storage solutions, and several privately-held companies. Kennedy holds a Masters (cum laude) degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, both from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of IEEE, ACM, and Phi Beta Kappa.
