Kalina Ivanov - Production Designer Kalina Ivanov was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. During the height of communism, she escaped with her parents and landed in New York. Kalina's design philosophy is to immerse herself in the script, fully embody the characters and reveal their history through color, texture and architecture in a visually original way. Kalina has lent her talents as a production designer to such films as "Little Miss Sunshine", "Chapter 27", "Swimfan", "Uptown Girls", "Brown Sugar", "Monday Night Mayhem", "Household Saints", "Smoke" and many others. In addition she was the visual consultant to "The Manchurian Candidate" and "Anamorph". Kalina has also worked as a storyboard artist on films like "The Silence of The Lambs", "Quiz Show", "The Horse Whisperer", "Sleepers", "The Emperor's Club" and many others. In addition to her design work, Kalina has made the documentary "The Longest Shadow" which was part of The Human Rights Watch Film Festival and was screened on PBS/POV. Kalina received her BFA from NYU/TSOA - Design Department and her MFA from NYU/TSOA - Film Department. She graduated with honors from both. Kalina is on the board of The Black Bear Film [ - ]
