Lolita Lopez is the sports anchor for the weekend edition on the PIX 11 News At Ten on WPIX-TV. She became a weekend sports anchor in 2005. She is also a general assignment reporter during the week. With the late 2008 retirement of Sal Marchiano, the sports anchor for over forty years, Lopez temporarily assumed most of the weekend sports anchor duties at that station. Lopez has attracted criticism from WOR radio host Steve Malzberg for sprinkling Spanish idioms and phrases into her sports updates, e.g. repeating the expression "light the lamp" when a local NHL player has a "hat trick" during a game, or exclaiming "adios" after a home run is replayed.
