Mela is a Sanskrit word meaning 'gathering' or 'to meet' or a fair. It is traditionally used in India and Nepal but has gradually become popular throughout the Indian subcontinent for all sizes of gatherings. Typically and traditionally, it is celebrated by all branches of Hindu for religious, commercial, cultural or sport-related events.
