Brad Bourland of Austin, Texas has spent much of the last ten years compiling his list of the 10,000 best movies of the 20th century. The list was sub-finalized on April 25, 2010 at a total of 9,200 films. A couple caveats: no silents, animations, made-for-TV, documentaries or foreign-language films are on his list and the last 150 “so bad that they’re fascinating” says Bourland.
His intention is to fill out the remaining 800 with input from readers of the list. At that point he'll re-publish and date a final list. That said, I've sub-titled this list as the first 9200 and will reserve The Movie List as the title of the final 10,000.
