I think I understand what your are meaning. Maybe it makes more sense for you to type Jewish Communities as religious jurisdictions? (I think, you can type them as both “organization” and “jurisdiction”, but I also agree that this might confuse. I already gave the example of the Jewish Community in Berlin http://www.jg-berlin.org/en/about-us/organisational-structure.html)
Is there a possible to change the type from religious organization to jurisdicticion by using an app?

I don't think repurposing topics in this way is a good idea. It's one thing if the Wikipedia definition gradually drifts and Freebase follows along, but to take an existing topic about one thing and use it for something entirely different will just cause confusion.

If a community topic is needed, it shouled be created separately. I also don't understand the typing with Religious Organization. I would have thought that that applied to the rabbis and their heirarchy, not a collection of townfolk who go to a particular temple (or all temples).

The thing that a consumer sees as a single product is an elaborately choreographed dance behind the scenes. I'd guess that that is what the Manufactured Component vs Consumer product split is supposed to indicate. There's a lot more variability to an Apple 8 GB iPod Nano than just the casing color. In the manufacturing/design workflows that I'm familiar with, the whole thing is driven by BOMs (bills of materials), part numbers, variants, and revs with all changes under change order control.

A change as small as a newly edited "Thank you for buying me" letter or a different firmware load for an EPROM will cause new part numbers/revs to be assigned. Any part could be multi-sourced, so they could be using Foxconn and Benchmark or Foxconn could be using both Samsung and IBM flash memory or there could be multiple printing vendors qualifier for manuals or -- well, you get the idea.

Two otherwise identical parts from different vendors get different part numbers, because that's how all these changes get tracked. Whether or not a component change results in a different part number for the higher level assembly gets decided by the design engineer and/or product manager, but at a minimum, a change will create a new rev.

Once Apple sells the product on, they become the "manufacturer" for the next level vendor (say I'm doing an iPod + hoodie + earbuds bundle) and Foxconn vs Benchmark becomes invisible.

I'm not sure tracking things at this level has any use outside of the manufacturer/designer, but that's how it's done in my experience and it does support having different views of who the manufacturer is internally and externally.

OK, so this is related to a previous discussion post on Standard Occupational Classification System. The taxonomy itself isn't really of much interest. It's just a list of numbers and associated job classifications (although the numbers imply a grouping of similar types of jobs). It's not going to help you train people for new and emerging occupations like Chief Sustainability Officer (11-1011.03) or Green Marketer (11-2011.01). If you need the number for cross referencing to something else, you could define a schema that includes it which extends the Job Title type (or some other appropriate type) to include the needed information. You could use the job lists to help identify Freebase topics which are not correctly typed yet (as I just did with Chief Sustainability Officer).

There is a Tools and Technologies file which might provide a starting point, although the first few lines aren't very encouraging. It says, for example, that a Chief Executive Officer needs to not only be able to use a 10-key calculator and desktop computer, but also a laptop computer, USB flash drive, and smartphone. In addition to those tools, they'll need familiarity with such technologies as email software, a web browser, and Powerpoint, Hopefully some of the other occupations have more useful information for you to work with.

Oops, just noticed that this data may not have a compatible license. You can probably get it fixed since U.S. Government data is supposed to be public domain, but it'll mean working with their lawyers (ick!). If you look at http://www.onetcenter.org/agree/database, it says no license is required, then goes on to lay out the terms of their license (huh?), including an advertising requirement saying that you need to use their "O*NET In It" mark. This requirement isn't compatible with Freebase's Terms of Service or licensing.

I don't have any direct interest in this stuff, but I'd be happy to help with schema review, data loading questions, etc.

Saying strictly that Battery is for the category would be esthetically pleasing, but would require the fairly silly state of having two "Toyota Prius Battery" topics -- one for the category and one for the manufactured component. I think the thing to do is not include either Manufactured Component or Manufactured Component Category, and just add them manually as necessary.

I am wondering about the relationship of the Manufactured Component type to the Consumer product type, if any. Obviously, not all manufactured components need to be treated as consumer products, but some surely should be, which leaves us with a bit of a denormalization, I think, unless the expectation is that the properties "Manufacturer" (from the Manufactured Component type) and "Made by company" (from Consumer Product) are not necessarily the same thing. E.g., Apple is the correct value for "made by company" for an Ipod, but Foxconn is the manufacturer. Is that the idea?

Also, I think there might be a bit of collision between Manufacturing Plant (MP) and Business Location, since Business Location explicitly includes factories as one of the things it can represent. Although I see we already have this problem in the Automotive domain, with that manufacturing plant type. However, the fact that MP has a CVT for operation complicates this somewhat, since Business Location is not time-mediated. I don't have any proposals for resolving this at the moment, but I think it bears discussing.

It depends. Battery has specific batteries, e.g. Toyota Prius Battery (a Manufactured Component); but it also works for more generic types of battery, e.g. Alkaline AA battery. (Manufactured Component Category). Should we assume that categories will be more prevalent than specific batteries?

Invention projects was what I was angling at, but on reflection it's unlikely that we'll have that much data on projects focusing on batteries (unlike construction projects for buildings) - so perhaps better if removed. If there is a project it can always be added manually.

What would merging the topics give you? The topics I flagged for deletion were untyped, so they have no properties. I'm not sure merging would "History of Jews in X" with "X Jewish Community" is right, and I have to admit I'm a bit dubious of "X Jewish Community" as a topic at all. Would we also create "X Catholic Community", "X secular community", and the like? I see you have included the type "Religious Organization" but that's more usually used for formal organisations than people with a certain faith in a certain geographic area. Eg. the Union for Traditional Judaism or United Synagogue Youth. Though they don't all appear to be correctly imported and typed and have their religion property set correctly, there's a good list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Jewish_organizations

I'm not quite sure what to make of this topic. It was originally a Wikipedia topic called "History of the Jews in Laupheim" (which article is still in Wikipedia under that name), but has been renamed, and typed as an Organization. I guess there are two issues here. One is whether repurposing an article imported from Wikipedia such as a "History of X" or "Economy of X", etc. into a topic about the "X" part of the name is desirable, or whether new topics should be created. The other is whether this topic makes sense as a Religious Organization/Organization, which I'm not sure about.
