Princess Giselle is the main protagonist of Walt Disney Pictures' film Enchanted. She is portrayed and voiced by Amy Adams, a performance that garnered Adams a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. The film begins in the animated fantasy world of Andalasia, where animals can talk and a cruel queen named Narissa (Susan Sarandon) fears that someday, her stepson, Prince Edward (James Marsden), will marry a girl and thus make her lose her kingdom. This fear comes true when one day, while troll-hunting Edward rescues a beautiful girl named Giselle (Amy Adams), who lived in a small cottage with her animal friends, including a smart-talking chipmunk named Pip (Jeff Glen Bennett). The two immediately fall in love, and plan to marry the next morning. That day, on her way to the wedding, Giselle encounters an old hag, who takes the princess-to-be to an enchanted wishing well. There, while Giselle makes a wish to herself, she is pushed into the well by the hag, revealed to be Queen Narissa in disguise. Giselle falls into a portal that transports her into the live-action world of modern-day Manhattan, where the scared and confused girl fails [ - ]
