The Brothers en
The Brothers is a 2006 Irish television documentary directed by Mikey Ó'Flatharta. The film centres around the lives (and deaths) of Paddy and Nicholas Butler, two brothers who lived together on their farm in County Waterford among the Comeragh Mountains. Photographer Richard Fitzgerald gathered footage of the Butler brothers from 1992 to 2004. At the funeral of Paddy Butler a woman in her fifties appears claiming to be Paddy’s daughter. Without exploiting this unpredicted event, the film covers this concluding chapter in the Butler brothers lives. The documentary film has aired on television, as well as having screemed at both the 2007 Waterford film festival and the 2007 San Francisco Irish Film Festival. The documentary has been referred to as "highly acclaimed" and received an IFTA momination, as well as winning 'Best Short Film' at the first Waterford Film Festival. [ - ]
