  • Horrifying, truly horrifying...This is the true pornography, unrelenting and sadistic gory violence. This movie should get a MA or X rating. There's something so backwards-reverso about the USA film/tv mores.

  • A very pleasant film, amiable acting. Good for a rainy afternoon movie. Weel done for such a low budget. Makes me want to rent "Thank You For Smoking" again, for seeing more of the lead actor Aaron Eckhart & The Ramen Girl for the lead actress Brittany Murphy. Really want to see a much better related work, Big Fish.

  • Wonderful inventive film. History as fiction, fiction as history. I found it bizarre that the same director is supposedly going to helm the Green Hornet film. Eh? It must be going for the campy 1960's Batman look and feel.

  • Wild. Fun. Bizarre. Obligatory Quentin Tarentino sequence. Yojimbo meets Fistful of Dollars meets Kill Bill meets contemporary Japanese Yakuza-genre films meets Yojimbo again.

  • Highly enjoyable weird film from 1990, seems more in tone with 1985. One of Tome Hanks last 'goofy' roles before he got all serious on us. Good desert-servings of Abe Vigoda and Nathan Lane at the end (I didn't recognize Nathan at first, but he was great in his bit-part).

  • I kinda liked it. Better than other films of the sub-subgenre of fix dying planet with big ole bomb dat go de boom-diddy-boom! Several of which featured sun gone bad. Tremendous music score, that I'll remember long after the rest of the film fades (like Solaris remake's score, which is in my top ten soundtracks still). Some great scenes. Movie kinda goes off the rails in the last part. Still, worth it.

  • My wife was watching this, so I got it through couch-osmosis. Probably the best visual adaptation of the tale. Too bad it's only available through the internets from a bad VHS-rip. Media wants to be free!

  • An impossible task, adapting the original work? Director would have done better to have broken free from the structure of the comic and used film's unique properties to retell it (maybe as a mini-series of films following several groups of characters (ala the first season of Heroes TV Series comes to mind). Still, well worth watching.

  • A film that was seemingly under-looked by the Oscars. A tremendously un-french french film. Some great acting in a mostly quiet film about a woman who is having trouble re-entering society after spending 15 years in jail. A great sister-relationship film for all the sisters (and some brothers) out there. A soothing balm for the roiling violence that was the Watchmen.

  • I feel after seeing the latest promo I've seen the entire picture's main plot points and all of the high points... I am soooo angry at the marketers who make trailers these days. I know they want to comfort people so they know exactly what the film is about before paying to see it (or waste time pirating screeners or workprints from teh internets. But this is ridiculous! Damn them! (Same goes for Star Trek 2009 trailers revealing way too much, crazy!)
