  • Video Hits was a Canadian music video program that was broadcast on CBC Television from 1984 to 1993, the longest running video series in Canada. Created by producer Sandra Faire, it featured music videos of current songs and interviews with artists. Video Hits originated as the show Coming Attractions which ran originally on CBC radio, then branched out to CBC tv. Tue/Thu 3:00-3:30 p.m., 21 Sep-23 Dec 1982 Mon/Wed 3:30-4:00 p.m., 27 Dec-6 Apr 1983 Tue/Thu 3:00-3:30 p.m., 12 Apr-19 May 1983 Produced in Toronto by Sandra Faire, Coming Attractions was an entertainment news magazine. Hosts Patricia White and Bob Karstens presented news from the worlds of music, video, art, theatre, the movies, television, and fashion. They ran a show a week that was completely music videos. When it ran it's course it was picked up the next year under the banner of Video Hits and went with the all video format. Samantha Taylor hosted the program from this point on, then Bryan Elliott hosted from 1989 to 1991, and Dan Gallagher hosted from 1991 to 1993. The show first aired October 1, 1984. Its time slot was weekdays at 4:30 p.m. In 1989, the show moved to 5:00 p.m.
