<p>The Berenstain Bears is a 2003 animated television series based on Stan and Jan Berenstain's children's book series of the same name. Not to be confused with the 1985 series of the same name. Although most of the earlier episodes in the series were based on the book series, later episodes were not based on any of the books. The series debuted on March 3, 2003 and ended on September 10, 2004.
The series follows the everyday lives of the Bear Family in a newer version of the 1985 series; which involves Mama Bear, Papa Bear, Sister Bear, and Brother Bear. Little Lady, the puppy, becomes a member of the family later in the series. The earlier episodes are simply based on the books, and many of the later episodes are not based on the books at all. The Berenstain Bears basically aimes to teach children life lessons.
The show was produced by the Canadian animation company Nelvana for the PBS Kids Channel, and the Treehouse TV channel. Eighty 15 minute episodes were produced. All of the episodes were based on Berenstain Bears books. It is currently airing on PBS and internationally.
