The Sacred Band of Stepsons is a military unit and military unit in the Sacred Band of Stepsons universe. The Sacred Band of Stepsons is a cavalry unit of hand-picked mercenaries with a large percentage of Sacred Band pairs. They are a combined arms force, primarily shock troops, under the command of the immortalized warlord, Tempus, favorite of the storm god. The Sacred Band of Stepsons was formed from an original Sacred Band of ten brought to Tempus by Abarsis, Slaughter Priest, and augmented by thirty single mercenaries. As the unit grew, it absorbed the 3rd Commando, a unit Tempus had formed long previous, the survivors of the Sacred Band of Thebes, and elite single mercenaries, eventually becoming the leadership cadre of the Lemurian armed forces as the greater Unified Sacred Band. The unit fought in the Wizard Wars, at the Battle of Sandia, at the Battle of Chaeronea, in the Sanctuary occupation, and at the Battle of Meridian, called The Great War by those who fought there.
