  • Built between 1925 and 1928, the Pont Caquot, named after Albert Caquot who engineered it, stands a few yards away from the other "Pont de la Caille", the historical Charles Albert bridge. Although initially commissioned for a tramway line between Annecy and Geneva, the bridge was eventually open to automobile traffic in 1939 when it became clear that the railway project wouldn't materialize. The structure is that of a single concrete arch upon which vertical columns rest and support the floor of the road above. The arch spans 137 meters which was a world record at the time. This massive structure spans a tiny body of water, a stream named Les Usses, some 150 yards or so below the bridge's deck. The bridge is near the town of Allonzier-la-Caille, on the Annecy side, and a few miles away from Cruseilles on the Geneva side. The bridge was significantly renovated in 2009 and 2010.
