Medusa are punk influenced three-piece rock band from the UK, currently based in Camden Town, London. Formed in Blackburn, Lancashire in spring 1998 by guitarist and vocalist Julian Molinero whilst still at school. Over the next few years, the band went through many line up changes, claiming to have been banned from many venues around the north of england for their antics before going on hiatus. Julian Molinero resurrected the group in 2006 to record the debut album Medusa with Matt Collinge on bass and Ben 'Scampi' Strachan on drums. The album had a strong influence of 80's rock and was recorded in 5 days at Ignition Studios, London. After an intitial self-release, the album was later released on the Los Angeles based label Poison Tree Records. A few months after the recording, Matt Collinge was replaced by one of the former members Chris Hodgson aka Amadeus De La Fontaine, who later left to join Dear Superstar. During the period Hodgson was still with the band, Medusa hit the national headlines, appearing in The Sun (newspaper) for apparently stealing television star Russell Brand's garden gnome.
