Greystones Mariners en
The Greystones Mariners Baseball Club are the oldest and largest baseball club in Ireland. Based in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, they are a community-based baseball programme serving youth aged 5 to 17 as well as amateur adult players. The club has both A and B teams. The Mariners were founded by Paul Murray in 1991, making them the oldest baseball club in Ireland. Since their foundation they have expanded and by the end of 2009 the club had about 100 members. The team are affiliated with Baseball Ireland, the National Governing Body for baseball. The Greystones Mariners Baseball Club is a voluntary organisation run by members of the team and community. At the end of the season the Mariners hold their highly anticipated North v South derby. Players from the north and south of Greystones go head to head in this annual game. The Emerald Diamond, a documentary film released in 2006 that chronicles the history of baseball in Ireland and the Irish National team, features footage of the Mariners in action.
