Mechanism To Prevent Lateral Displacement Of Stent-Grafts Within Aneurysms en
Endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms has been shown to be effective in preventing rupture of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms and has reduced morbidity and mortality compared to open surgical repair. However, despite the clear benefits of endovascular surgery in the early peri-operative period, there are significant concerns regarding the long-term stability and durability of endovascular repair, largely due to device migration or displacement over time. This invention is designed to augment resistance to migration of current and future aortic endografts by maintaining the three-dimensional position (curvature) of the endovascular device within the aneurysm sac.
