ISL : Urban Mobility Systems Research en
Different modes of transport in modern cities (public transit and private vehicles on the road) are either overcrowded or underutilized. This leads to excess carbon emissions, inefficient fuel consumption, traffic accidents, and wasted time. The load on the system is highly periodic, with pronounced morning and evening peaks. Our work aims to redistribute system load by modifying user demand temporally and spatially. Applications include developing scalable online user platforms, behavioral incentives and/or pricing schemes, large scale scheduling models and low-cost sensing technologies. [ - ]
