The plot of the movie centers around the occurrence of a major earthquake in Los Angeles which triggered a massive tidal wave that destroyed most of Hawaii, and an ancient fault lines throughout the entire continent eventually resulting in an earthquake which created a split in the midwest, starting in South Dakota, going through the entire continent of North America, and ending in the Gulf of Mexico, nearly destroying the nuclear plant in Red Plains, Texas; thereby splitting the United States and Canada in half.
