The 1998 International Rules Series was the first official annual series between the Gaelic Athletic Association and Australian Football League since it was cancelled in 1990,it was part of a 4 year agreement , the 5th overall .Ireland and Australia both won a game however Ireland won the overall by 10 aggregate points
Both tests were played at Croke Park in Dublin the GAA Headquarters. A total attendance of 57,000 attended the series.
