A Hard Day's Night is the third UK album by The Beatles, released on 10 July 1964 as the soundtrack to their film of the same name. The US version of the album was released on 26 June 1964 by United Artists Records with a different tracklisting. It was eventually replaced by the original UK version with its first release on CD, 26 February 1987.
While showcasing the development of the band's songwriting talents, the album sticks to the basic rock and roll instrumentation and song format. It is the first Beatles album to feature entirely original compositions, and the only one where all the songs were written by Lennon/McCartney. The album contains some of their most famous songs, including the title track (with its distinct, instantly recognizable opening chord) and "Can't Buy Me Love", both being transatlantic number one singles for the band. The album and film are said to portray the classic image of the Beatles, as it was released at the height of Beatlemania.
