As the episode starts, Mary tells Dick that she is going to Borneo for an entire year. Dick is predictably upset by this and strives to convince Mary to stay in Rutherford. That night, Dick experiences a dream for the first time and, convinced that he's losing his mind, he seeks out a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist gives him antidepressant, which Dick immediately becomes addicted to, causing him to lose touch with reality.
Sally then has a dream in which she kills Officer Don. Once she finds that Don is actually still alive, she too fears for her sanity and also ends up becoming doped out on the antidepressants. Seeing what they have done to Dick and...
