Brody was born in Carlsbad, San Diego County, California, the oldest son of Valerie (née Siefman), a graphic artist, and Mark Brody, a lawyer. His parents, both Jewish, were originally from Detroit, Michigan. He has younger twin brothers, Sean and Matt.
