Scott is often talked of as a natural successor to Greg Norman in Australian golf, an impression reinforced when Norman's former caddy joined up with him in 2004, and he is coached by noted instructor Butch Harmon.
Scott was born in Adelaide, Australia. He attended the prestigious Anglican boys' school, The Southport School in middle school, and finished his high school education at The Kooralbyn International School where he also undertook extra subjects in Golf.
