The goal of the LA Bands base is to create a catalog of all bands, past and present, famous and obscure, that got their start in the LA music scene. Please feel free to add bands, even if it's just your own!
Here are hints for adding bands:
- Pick a genre view (hip hop, goth, metal, glam, etc.), and then click add more at the top of the gallery view to add one or more bands.
- Enter the name of your band. If it's already in Freebase, you can choose the band from the autosuggest list; if it's not, click add a new one to create a new band.
- When you add a new or existing band to LA Bands, the field for place musical career began will automatically be populated with Los Angeles.
- If you add your band in one of the genre views, the musical genre field will automatically be populated with that genre. You can add other genres too. If you're not sure what genre the band is, add it to the LA Bands view.
- If you can, please provide an image of the band. Click edit under Gallery to add images. If you get your images from the Web, you can probably upload them as Fair Use.
- You can also add links to myspace pages or any other online information about the band. Click edit under Weblinks and then enter the name of the link and the URL.
- If you have any other information about the band, like tour dates or appearances, feel free to post them in the Discussion area.
- Don't forget to add a Description; include things like the band influences, how they got started, what other bands members have been in, anything you think is important
