One of fifteen children, Albert's mother taught him how to cook from a young age. At the age of 15 he left to work odd jobs, and in the mid 1970s went to Toronto to become a factory worker. In January 1988 at the age 18, he had saved enough open up his restaurant. The restaurant has become popular destination for Jamaican cuisine, and famous people such as the late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau have tried its food.
The restaurant serves entrées such as Goat, chicken and Ox Curry and Jerk Chicken, and snacks like Plantain chips, Jamaican rum cake, Sugar coconut and rock cake.
