Young Modern was Silverchair's fifth consecutive album to debut at number one on the ARIA albums chart, making Silverchair the first band to accomplish this feat in Australia. The album's cover art is likely inspired by Piet Mondriaan's Modernistic portrait, Composition No. 10 and Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow and takes a three-dimensional approach to his flat style.
