The Andorian Empire was a fictional Andorian nation in the Star Trek television franchise, prior to the founding of the Federation, of which they became a member.
Shortly after being founded, the Andorian Empire began to colonize various worlds. In the course of these colonization efforts, they discovered the Vulcans, with whom they repeatedly fought for the next century. This fighting led to the Vulcans' annexation of the Andorian planet Weytahn. By the 2100s, the Vulcans and Andorians had entered into a sort of cold war.
In 2161, the Andorians and Vulcans put their differences aside and formed the United Federation of Planets along with the Human and several other Star Trek races. This ended the Andorian Empire's existence, which had lasted for an estimated 250 years.
