Iguodala was born in Springfield, Illinois to Linda Shanklin and Frank Iguodala, who is of Nigerian descent . His older brother, Frank, played for the University of Dayton and is currently a free agent. As a young teenager, Andre attended Benjamin Franklin Middle School and started playing basketball in 6th grade.
Iguodala attended high school at Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois.
