After a terrible accident in a rain storm in which his father, Peter Harper, dies, Jesse feels lonely and quits the team. Peter Harper was himself actually a football star in his high school days.
On the night that Jesse quits the team, Kevin, his younger brother, confronts him and tells him that football was a major part of Jesse's life. He tells Jesse that he belongs in the football team. Jesse responds by saying that the only way he would get back into the football team is if the team starts winning.
