Atlantis, the Palm is a resort at Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is a joint venture between Kerzner International Limited and Istithmar PSJC and was opened on 24 September 2008. The resort is modelled after the Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in Nassau, Bahamas.
The resort consists of two towers linked by a bridge, with a total of 1539 rooms. There are two Palm Jumeirah Monorail stations connecting the resort to the main section of the Palm Jumeirah islands.
On September 2, 2008, a fire broke out in the lobby of the almost-completed hotel at around 7:20 in the morning and extinguished three hours later. Nobody was injured in the fire, which was believed to be started as workers were carrying out welding activities or because of an electrical problem. Although the roof of the lobby was torched and the exterior of the hotel sustained some smoke damage, the resort opened on time on September 24.
