Most of Axis' equipment contain an embedded computer with some flash memory and running a custom version of Linux. One of its major breakthroughs in technology was the development of JFFS, which extended the life time of the devices' flash memory.
Axis have been manufacturing network cameras since 1996, having sold more than 1,000,000 since that time. Their first model, the Axis 200, boasted a web interface as its main attraction, which has been built into Axis's whole range of cameras ever since.
