As of 2004 it was the second-largest airport in Baden-Württemberg (after Stuttgart Airport), and the 18th-largest in Germany with 970,000 passengers per year. The number of passengers for 2008 was listed at 1,151,583.
Baden Airpark was a Canadian military base and airport, CFB Baden-Soellingen, from 1953 until 1993. The newly founded Baden Airpark GmbH took over the airport in 1995 and the first commercial flight took place on May 17, 1997 to Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
