During the first film, he spends most of his time trying to make Scott Calvin (played by Tim Allen) understand that he is indeed Santa Claus and there is no getting out of it. He does, however, help Scott with his first Christmas and also helps to get Scott's son Charlie, out of his house along with his dad. He also is the one who gives Charlie the magical snow globe saying at the end of the movie, "Whenever you want to see your dad, just shake it."
In the second film, he spends much of his time bickering with Curtis, the number two elf, who is unwilling to tell Santa about "The Mrs. Clause", which forces him to marry or forsake his role as Santa. He is also asked by Santa (Scott) to lie to the elves about the new and improved Santa who is actually a toy to replace...
