After graduating from the College of William & Mary, where he studied English and was a brother of the Kappa Alpha Order, Lawrence wrote for hit shows including Friends, Boy Meets World, and The Nanny and produced the animated series Clone High. He is also the creator of the sitcom Spin City and his current venture, the comedy-drama Scrubs, which has finished seven seasons on NBC and moved to ABC as a 2008-09 midseason replacement.
