At night, as most of all the citizens of Townsville get ready to go to sleep, Buttercup ponders about what it would be like if they were old enough to stay up late in the night. When she looks to her sister for agreement, Bubbles timidly contradicts... The Professor hears screams that send him rushing to their room, but finds out it was only Buttercup scaring her sisters with a "cheap" trick. Blossom was angry that Buttercup would disturb her trying to get to sleep, but Bubbles is depressed that she couldn't be braver. The Professor encourages Bubbles by saying how frightened he was to hear them screaming up in their room, but still managed to get there to see what happened.
"Bravery is doing what you're afraid to do. If you can just face your fears, then I know you'll find the courage to beat em'."
As soon as the room's lights go out, a pathway to a supposedly underground world is known. The plot is revealed: the creatures of the night are planning to go to the land above and conquer...
