Cooper was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in nearby Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. His mother, Gloria (née Campano), is Italian-American, and his father, Charlie Cooper, is Irish-American and worked as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch.
